Put the letters “itis” behind any word, tendinitis, bursitis etc. and you know it is not a good thing. The suffix caught my attention in a recent newspaper article titled “Boomeritis infects hospital ward”. The article was not so much about a new inflammatory infection but more of a behavioral/societal trend that is creating some havoc in the hospi-tal sector. Training by Seniors Peer Counselling BC NS Seniors Peer Support is a regional group of SP/BC since 1995.
Training course developed with the University of Victoria and was funded by the Ministry of Health.

Seniors Peer Support offers the kind of support that one can only get with others who share similar experiences.

• Interest in health and wellness
• Awareness of concerns that affect quality of life
• Possible background in the helping professions
• Willing to attend the full training and commit to the program
