Fitness Centre

To access the Fitness Centre or participate in fitness classes at John Braithwaite Community Centre, simply purchase a North Vancouver Recreation Commission fitness membership or pay a daily drop-in fee. Fitness Services

To book an appointment for a consultation or personal training, call 604-982-8300 or drop by the Front Office. For answers to your fitness or training-related questions, drop by the Fitness Centre or call 604-982-8316.

"Get Started" Consultation

Get started with an orientation to our facility, then we'll design a start-up program that will give you some of the tools you'll need to reach your fitness goals.

Lifestyle Checkup Consultation

We can assess what you are doing now and help fine-tune your current program to put the challenge back into it and maximize your results.

Personal Training

Let our highly qualified staff work one-on-one with you to design a tailored fitness program that will motivate you to reach your fitness goals.

Core Training

Looking to ramp up your workouts? Try adding body balls, BOSUs and wobble boards to challenge your abdominals, lower back and hip musculature. Ask our knowledgeable staff about core training ideas or classes.

Diabetes Fitness

Gentle exercises to help stabilize diabetes, lose weight, decrease your need for insulin, lower cholesterol and avoid complications. For more information, email or call Min Naruki-van Velzen at 604-983-6423.

Cardiac Rehabilitation Exercise Classes

Active Life Physiotherapy provides the North Vancouver community and recreational athletes with one-on-one physiotherapy expertise and support services in a unique community centre setting. Rob has 10 years of experience working as a rehab professional in the hospital and private sectors. This ergonomics specialist and hydrotherapy instructor can be found hiking and cycling in his spare time.

Marissa Ismay

Weight Room Attendant

Marissa has been involved in sport for years and is currently working on her degree in Kinesiology.  In addition to her role as weight room attendant Marissa is working in the gym as an Exercise Therapist for a Physiotherapy and Sport Injury Clinic.

Barb enjoys sharing her 25 years of experience as a cardiology technologist with participants in the Community Cardiac Rehab program. She works with children in the Jackrabbit Cross-Country Ski Club, and helps athletes of all ages and abilities develop their potential for cycling and triathlons. As 2005 Canadian and World Masters Games Road Race Champion, she is an excellent role model for those who would like a strong, flexible and healthy body.
