Facility

John Braithwaite Community Centre (JBCC) is designed to be welcoming, inclusive and accessible to everyone—a place where everyone can meet. Have a look at our facility by checking out our virtual online tour.

Our community centre features:

  • Elevators. You can reach all four levels of the building by elevator.
  • Washrooms. Each level of JBCC has washrooms that are accessible to wheelchairs and scooters.
  • Assisted hearing systems. Four rooms (Harbourview, Anchor, Discovery and Shoreline) are equipped with state-of-the-art assisted hearing systems.
  • Public access computers for visually impaired. On the ground floor, two of our public access computers are set up for people who are visually impaired.
  • Parking. Handicapped parking is available in the commercial Time Marketplace Parkade, accessible on the north side of the 100 block of west Esplanade. Go to level P4 and look for the designated handicapped parking spaces. Take the elevator from P4 to street level, which will bring you to the front door of the Community Centre.

Several of our programs and services also cater to North Shore residents with special needs. In partnership Vancouver Coastal Health, we offer specialized programs for people with either physical or developmental disabilities. Our Fitness Centre staff are also qualified to provide health and lifestyle advice, as well as some rehabilitation services.

For more information on our specialized facilities, programs and services, drop by our Front Desk or call 604-982-8300 (Monday to Friday 9 am - 8 pm; weekends 9 am - 5 pm).
