Policies

John Braithwaite Community Centre (JBCC) values and appreciates our volunteers. We believe that volunteering should be a positive and rewarding experience. As a JBCC volunteer, you can expect to be treated with the same respect and understanding given to our staff and community members.

If you have any concerns or questions arising from your volunteer position, please discuss them with your program supervisor.

Criminal Record Check

All volunteers working in regularly scheduled programs at JBCC must complete a Criminal Record Check. The Criminal Record Check is free of charge through the North Vancouver RCMP.

Illness and Holidays

Volunteers must be dependable. If you are unable to make a scheduled shift due to illness or holidays, you must notify your program supervisor as soon as possible so that alternate arrangements can be made.

Personal Conduct

Volunteers work as part of a team and everyone on the team — community members, volunteers and staff — is expected to respect their fellow team members. As a volunteer, you are expected to respect the confidences and the values of John Braithwaite Community Centre and program participants.

Signing In

A volunteer sign-in book is kept at the Front Desk. For safety reasons, you are required to sign the book and to record your arrival and departure times.
