Interested in volunteering?
Before you contact us, consider:
- What is your passion? What skills or talents would you like to share with the community?
- What time commitment can you make to volunteering? A few hours a year for special events or a few hours a week for regular programs?
- Do you want to volunteer with other people in a program setting or on your own?
- Would you like to develop a new skill?
- What kind of volunteer work interests you? Browse through our volunteer opportunities to get some ideas or contact us if you have an idea of your own.
How to Become a JBCC Volunteer
- Email Kelly Hardman , Coordinator of Volunteer Services, or call 604-982-8314 to schedule an interview.
- Before the interview, download our VolunteerApplication.pdf (32k). You will require Adobe Acrobat Reader to view this document. Download a free copy of the Adobe application. Fill out the application and bring it with you to your interview.
- At the interview, we will discuss your availability, your interests and potential volunteering opportunities. Our Coordinator of Volunteer Services will then determine the most appropriate volunteer placement.
- If a suitable volunteering opportunity is available, you will need to obtain a Criminal Record Check. A criminal record check is required for all volunteers (special event and project volunteers may be exempt). North Vancouver residents will receive the appropriate form from the Coordinator of Volunteer Services.
- Once the Coordinator has successfully completed a reference check and received the results of your Criminal Record Check, they will schedule an on-site orientation, which will include the responsibilities of the volunteer position and any training that may be required.
