Public Access Computers

JBCC has 10 public access computers available for use at no charge (except printing). All computers are equipped with content filters. Internet access, word processing, spreadsheet and Powerpoint applications are available on all PC stations.

Guidelines

We appreciate your cooperation in following the guidelines listed below:

* You must have a JBCC computer membership to use the PCs, and will need to have your card with you to access this service. Contact our Front Desk to get your FREE computer membership.

* You will need basic computer knowledge to use these PCs. Front office staff are not available to provide instruction.

* Users may not run or install their own software programs or games on Community Centre computers.

* Computers are equipped with time-out software that gives users a one-hour block of time to use each day.

* Children under 12 years of age must be directly supervised by someone over the age of 18.

* Please be respectful of other users by keeping noise to a minimum and please do not conduct cell phone conversations while using computers.

* Food or drink is not permitted in the computer area.

Printing Costs

Printing is available via a shared network printer. The cost of printing is 20 cents per page, and you will be charged for each page you send to the printer. Patrons may not use their own paper. Please contact Front Desk staff to activate the printer prior to hitting the "Print" button.

Downloading Files

Patrons may read CD’s and download files to diskettes or portable drives (if the software application has this feature). For security reasons, some software applications may not have the download option enabled. Users must provide their own formatted diskettes and portable storage devices. JBCC is not responsible for any potential problems with viruses; therefore, exercise caution when downloading files from the Internet. Please do not download applications from the Internet.
